Vail,December 2018

This December saw record levels of snow in Vail. All the bowls were open as of the end of November.

This year’s group of 15 skiers stayed at the Landmark condos in Vail. We flew to Denver on Southwest Airlines and after a grocery stop en route arrived in time to organize ourselves, rentals, etc. and prepare to hit the slopes early the next morning. We experienced the powder on a sunny first day and exchanged stories that evening over wine and cheese.

The skiing over the five days was excellent. We did not get more powder but it was cold enough for the conditions to stay very good; and as usual, there were no crowds. People formed their own ski groups and had a good time.

In addition to the reception, we had two group dinners.

Vail was as pretty as ever; some went to watch the lighting of the Christmas Tree. There was also a concert in Betty Ford park for those who wanted to brave the evening chill.

After five full days on the slopes, we had plenty of time on the last morning for breakfast and a wander before the bus picked us up at noon for the drive back to Denver.

The last words were “see you next year”!
